Hello and happy Monday! Welcome toย Bold Moves Podcast Episode Eleven Ryan “The Buddha” Baudhuin!! This week’s episode is with an old friend of mine who has been through some serious changes in the past decade(ish) we’ve been friends, including (but not limited to) growing copious amounts of facial hair. He’s left a steady job with the government to explore the great outdoors as a professional nature photographer and hunter – something I didn’t even know one could choose as a profession!
I mention his hair because when I went to his facebook page to steal his “about me” section (which is pretty epic):
Bearded Meatbat/Professional Champion/ Illegitimate Child of Marty Stouffer/High Ceiling & Low Floor,
I also decided to look at old pictures using the “See Friendship” function, and could barely recognize the Buddha I’d met ten or so years ago!
That was a photo taken back in 2008 at the big fundraiser for my first 3-Day/60-mile walk to fight breast cancer!
Here, of course, is the video edition. The audio-only version is on iTunes and Stitcher, or in the player below! Please subscribe! ๐
Even though Buddha was more serious than I’m used to (perhaps another sign of change of the last decade!), I had to share a couple of my favorite recent Buddha images (note: not examples of his professional photography!), and you can obviously see the difference in his choice of look!

Now that you’ve seen the more absurd portion of Buddha’s existence, I DEFINITELY need to share some of his work! ๐
From his camera and I to your eyeballs and brain… You’re welcome! Isn’t his work impressive??
Equally impressive are his book suggestions*, which range from Everyone Poops to The Fountainhead to Animal Farmย and Outdoor Life!
I’m sure you’re looking at this and wondering – where can I see more? Or, where can I get my hands on a print?
Well, for the first one, here you go! Here’s the gallery he mentioned at 500px.com. Here’s his professional hunting facebook page, and here’s the facebook page for his photography! Of course, you can find the photography on Instagram, and here’s the Backcountry Traditions facebook page for more hunting adventures!
As for the second question, fortunately for you, Buddha was generous enough to donate a print to a lucky winner! The ways to enter are below, and you can peruse his gallery/facebook pages to pick out which print is your favorite!
Here’s how you can enter!
So, which of the images shown is your favorite? Have you ever had a job or perk fall into your lap because of connections you’ve made? How do you recommend making connections? Comment below with your answer!
xoxo,
Mandie

What gorgeous photographs! I love when photographers capture nature in such an intimate and beautiful way!
Yes, I have been following his work for a while but was still blown away when he sent over the photos all together for the blog! THanks for visiting!
Wow, his work is stunning indeed!
My brother is a professional hunter as well (not a photographer, though), and loves every minute!
Wow, I had no idea that was a profession! Super cool! Glad you like his work, and hope you entered the giveaway!
He is an amazing photographer.
I can only dream to own a camera like that one day, well that and learn how to use it, LOL
Right?! I had a feeling you’d like it, since you are also a fan of the national parks! I hope you also entered the giveaway so you can grab one of his prints if you win! <3 Thanks for visiting!
