While what they say about blondes having more fun is true (well, probably… I’ve always been blonde, so I don’t know the other side of the story), the less fun part is the upkeep! Recently, Influenster sent me the Clairol Root Touch-Up completely complimentarily in exchange for my honest review, and if you’re curious about an at-home solution to expensive salon maintenance, read on!
For a long time, I had platinum blonde hair, and if I tried to tell you that I didn’t sometimes missing, you’d have my full permission to call me a liar.
(I’m probably wearing the cute sailor hat to cover up dark blonde roots! 😜 Just kidding!)
What I don’t miss, however, is the necessary and frequent trips to the salon to get my roots touched up. That’s why I was excited to try Clairol Root Touch-Up when I got the email from Influenster saying it was on the way!
Additionally, my hair stylist in Beverly Hills’ salon closed, and I wanted to touch up my dark base (which he thinks is perfect, but I think is too dark because I am not into the dark roots trend that’s happening right now), so I wanted this Clairol Root Touch-Up to work for me in the meantime!
Basically, it’s a powder that you brush on your hairline, and it is supposed to blend your color to your roots.
Well, it may work for some people, but maybe Ives is right and my natural/darkened base color was perfect, because it’s the exact same color as the Clairol Root Touch-Up color was! So, you couldn’t really see a difference, because it was almost as if I was adding a clear coat. Because it was the same color and I was looking to see a difference, I probably applied way more than I should have.
In “real life,” it looked exactly the same! The front of my hair was wet from not putting my shower cap (yes, I know – sexy visual) low enough!
Though I couldn’t see a big difference in person, and can only see a slight difference in the photo, I am going to give the Clairol Root Touch-Up the benefit of the doubt and rate it a 7.5!
