I LOVE social media. As you can see by the footer of my blog, I am on just about every single kind of social media possible. I haven’t tried Periscope yet, but just might. This morning even!
But social media can get ugly. REALLY UGLY. In fact, if you follow my personal facebook page or are my friend. you may notice a huge argument going on about the Sandra Bland case, and it is not pretty! It’s happening on my profile picture and on a post I made yesterday morning!
Enough about that (at least here). You might be wondering “Um, where’s the food?” or be thinking “Uh, Mandie, I know you are self-employed and often have no idea what day it is, so I will be nice and tell you it’s not Friday. It’s Saturday!”
I know it’s Saturday, because today is Super Saturday, which is the quarterly Beachbody event, and I am pumped! But let’s get back to Friday, or even further, let’s get ourselves to Thursday.
On Thursday, I ended up going down a dangerous road of comparison on social media. I ended up looking at someone else’s page and feeling like I myself was not as successful, and feeling bad about myself. It’s silly, because I know that most of us only show our highlight reels on social media, and not always what is actually going on. In fact, it seems to be an extreme one or the other – either only showcasing perfection, or airing out all sorts of dirty laundry and drama!
In this post (which does have a delicious recipe, I promise!), I am attempting to find the balance between the two!
In one of my challenge groups, one of my coaches posted a recipe she said was a must-try, and I agree – it looked AWESOME! It was Vegan, and I try to follow a primal and high fat diet, so I modified it. Usually, when food turns out ugly, Tommy eats the ugly first few items, and then I perfect making whatever it is, and then I take a picture of and post those I make after a little practice.
Wasn’t happening with this modified recipe!
Have you ever seen this meme?
Every time I try to make an omelette:
And that’s what happened Thursday!
Here are my pictures of how it turned out:
Not nearly as sexy as the original, eh?
Before I FINALLY give you my version of the recipe, one more point of transparency:
I do not look LIKE THIS anymore.
Even though I was in Nashville for a Fitness and Nutrition event, Nashville is not known for its healthy food, I had a hard time eating healthy while at airports, and I have been slacking a bit since I got back to California! PLUS, not getting enough sleep ALSO causes you to bloat! This* is what I look like right now:
I know that it’s not BAD, but now that I see my potential, it is unacceptable to me! So, I am getting back on track with a challenge starting THIS MONDAY! All who need accountability and support or want to give me some accountability and support are welcome! Click here to join!
Ok, without further ado, here is my attempt at the recipe my coach shared!
xoxo,
Mandie
*P.S. I know that many people would LOVE to have my current pic, with which I am displeased. I want you to know that I KNOW I am very blessed. I work out because I love my body, not because I hate it. I know what I CAN look and feel like, and where I currently am is below that potential! I have experienced worse, and even the “worst” I have looked is NOT THAT BAD, though my eating habits certainly were! The reason I am sharing this is because I don’t want people to believe that it isn’t hard for everyone. I don’t want people to think that I have it all figured out or am always perfect. I am just trying to be transparent and open about the fact that I have struggles too – that way we can all help each other!
