As a makeup artist and someone who is newly engaged, it is important to me to have nice nails. Having well-manicured nails sends the message to my clients that I take care of myself and am more likely to have good hygiene, and as someone newly engaged, people are looking at my hands more to see my beautiful ring! For this reason, I was super excited to do a Formula X System Xcel & Delete All Nail System Review!
I get frustrated about nail products. I mean, we can send people to the moon, but we can’t figure out a way to make roads that don’t fall apart or nail polish that goes on quickly and easily and stays on perfectly as long as we want it to? I think there’s a conspiracy here! π
Regular polish chips almost immediately. Gel polish either peels off and damages my nails, or stays on unless you use chemical warfare against them, or usually some combination of the two. Jamberry? Apparently I have a bizarre nail shape that requires trying out about 45 different methods to work (Jamberry consultant: “Have you tried the ziplock method? How about the nail clipper method? Maybe the iambic pentameter terrorist fighting method would work?” – ok, I made the last one up, but for a “quick & easy alternative to polish,” this seems to be a bit much)!
That being said, I was really excited to try the Formula X System Xcel! Should we see the unboxing?
As you can see, it came with a 4-step polish system – cleanse, prime, color, and shine!
Normally, when I paint my nails, I clean them with either alcohol or nail polish remover, and then do a base coat, color, and a top coat, so the four step process is pretty normal for me, and if it worked well, I’d be more than happy to do it!
If you’re a consistent reader of my blog, and/or listen to my podcast too, you’ll know that I am trying to spend one wonderful hour per day on myself, so this was perfect! The other day, I listened to podcasts while I painted my nails by the pool. What a life! Here’s how it looked:
And if you’re wondering about the comments – before I was able to clean up my job, I took the pic… And someone who deleted his comments asked if a 5-year old did my mani-pedi. As Stephanie Tanner would say, HOW RUDE! Haha
After this, I let it dry and relaxed a bit, and then went in to cook dinner. Initially, I was really impressed. There were a few things I did where I checked my nails right away after because I thought for sure that there would be dents in them, or even polish scraped off, but that was not the case!
However, it still didn’t work quite as well as I would have hoped… By the end of dinner and then the next day, my nails looked like this….
With four of them total chipped.
Granted, I was told they would withstand the impossible, so I did get them wet quite a bit right away, and really gave them the test! I am curious to see what would happen if I babied them a little more, especially on the first day after painting them, as the packaging says the wear is ten days!
Another thing that came with the system was a Delete All nail polish remover.
My nails aren’t quite chipped enough for me to try it, but when I do, I will make a little video and update this blog – and then update my social media with a link so you can check it out! It’ll probably be a couple days from now.
Overall, I was really pleased with this. We’ll see what time, love and tenderness does with the next attempt. (Sorry, but I’m not sorry if you now have a Michael Bolton song stuck in your head)!
