Wow, we are about halfway through the year. That’s crazy to me! How about you? As I have been doing at the beginning of every month this year, I want to check in with myself in a bit of reflection to see how I am doing on the intentions I set for myself this year! So, here comes my June Goals & Accountability!
If you were around last month, you probably know that my part time position that was paying the bills when I didn’t have makeup or modeling gigs lined up was eliminated.
Since then, a great deal of my time has been spent on the job hunt. It has been a balancing act, to say the least, and any sort of consistency on my goals (well, some of them) has suffered a bit. I feel consistently torn between wanting to use this time to build my own business and wanting to get a job to pay bills until I am making more money independently, which of course takes the time away from working on building my business! I did have a few phone or skype interviews as well as a couple rounds of tests, but no job offers, so I also wasted some time feeling discouraged. We’ll see what happens!
Despite not even being willing to show my 42goals screenshots this time, I still feel like May was a good month and I accomplished some things! I was encouraged by a Shine Text (if you don’t get them, I recommend it! Daily texts of inspiration and self-care/personal development articles!) to make a list of accomplishments, too, instead of only focusing on where I’ve fallen short this year so far, so in addition to the “highlight reel box in progress,” here’s that!
I have done some really amazing shoots, some of which can be seen in my most recent makeup portfolio update post!
I have also ghost written a couple articles, which was new to me, but after being published on Forbes.com, Huffington Post, Apple News, etc, I am starting to get more confident in my writing, which is also advantageous to someone writing a book! I think it helped my mindset, too, to be paid money for my writing! Still working on money mindset, and considering buying the audio versions of You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero*, and Get Rich, Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield-Thomas, two of my favorite money mindset books, and listening to them on repeat!
One thing that gave me comfort was that when I was reading the 5-Second Rule,* the author mentioned that I (well, she wasn’t speaking to me personally, but it felt like it – haha) should not beat myself up over not wanting to write some days. I had been noticing on my 42goals.com screenshots that that was the least consistent thing I was doing, which seems contrary to someone whose goal is to finish writing a book! I should trust my creative process and write when my heart is in it!
However, as much as I love the idea of celebrating progress, I also know that what isn’t tracked is often not achieved, so here’s a look at last month’s goals and how I’ve done with them!
1. Continue to track on 42goals.com the same behaviors, but to be more intentional with the personal development (finish courses) and write/content/add to audience (implement what’s learned in courses!) directives. This puts me toward both goals I wavered on in Q1 – growing my audience, and finishing my book. – I was good at keeping the goals in mind, and doing many of them daily, as it has become a good habit for me, but did not TRACK well some weeks, so I need to get back to being diligent with that!
2. Do a complete overhaul of my website. (I was told it isn’t a good representation of how cool I am in person by someone I greatly respect). – I am waiting for a proposal from the third person I chatted with about potentially doing this!
3. Get caught up on all personal development courses/memberships – I have made a lot of progress here, but am not fully caught up!
4. Hire a coach – I am exchanging social media and branding consultation for coaching and had my first real session yesterday!
5. Finish my book – I’m close!
6. Finish my goal-planning system. – that’s supposed to be after #5!
7. Celebrate with Blogfest and then a honeymoon, followed by…. maybe moving? We shall see!
And somewhere in there also now includes “FIND A JOB!” (unless miracles {which I believe in} happen, and I don’t need to)! – still in progress!
I am so happy that progress has been made in almost all of those areas!
After the chat with the coach yesterday, plus the aforementioned wisdom from Mel Robbins in the 5-Second Rule, I am not forcing the book writing right now.
One thing that I DO want to do is something I can start making money with and helping people with IMMEDIATELY, and that is the makeup course I have already created and have not been marketing, so that is taking my focus as far as my personal business building!
So, for my June Goals, here we go:
1. Improve tracking, with lenience on the writing thing.
2. Get serious about marketing my makeup course and sell a bunch, empowering women everywhere to feel confident because they know how to look their best!
3. Complete all courses, and get caught up on memberships.
4. Hit the 5,000 follower mark on instagram.
And once again, I’ll say – and maybe get a job!
I hope you enjoyed reading my June Goals & Accountability! Feel free to ask me how I am doing with any of the various goals mentioned!
By the way, since Personal Development is part of the list, I should share with you that my personal development book club is currently reading The 5-Second Rule by Mel Robbins*, who I saw speak at the Success Live conference back in September!
