Shortly after my birthday at the beginning of the month, I decided to try something new… I decided to make a new month’s resolution every month of this year of my life. No need to wait for 2016!
Thus began my Stress-Free September! I was able to work myself out of cramping and soreness in my neck and upper back, which is where I seem to carry my tension!
I also allowed myself more time for me – like time to do facials (partially thanks to my friend Nancy, who works for Korres and gave me a goodie bag when I visited LA for a shoot), and painted my finger and toenails, read fashion magazines by the pool… And used these beauty tips as well:
I mentally prepared to work with probably the biggest celebrity client I ever had with some tips to calm my social anxiety (which has improved SO MUCH over the years)!
Although I was already a huge fan of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, doing a little homework on him to make sure that I had interesting things to chat with him about helped a ton! I didn’t feel nervous at all and had a wonderful time!
I also FINALLY learned the value of establishing routines and setting a schedule for myself…
However, literally the day after I made this video and had a schedule all chosen, big changes happened in my schedule, so now I am working to create a new one to start sticking to tomorrow!

This month has been CRAZY with visitors here almost the whole month, a last-minute trip to LA the day after my phone stopped working, and a giant shift in the perfect schedule I had made. It has been wonderful, but I am looking forward to a bit of routine establishment for October! I can’t imagine how frazzled I would be by now if I had not been taking the measures described above!
It is also ironic to note that the day of the last video of the month, I had a lesson of my own – that I should have followed THESE productivity tips (and these and these) and had my videos filmed and planned ahead, just in case the day of the video arrived and I felt mentally drained and exhausted and annoyed with technical difficulties (same phone sitch) that would make making the last video seem like the biggest chore in the world, and would be the ONLY video so far since the first week in January that I would miss! I even filmed the day that I was crying my eyes out because my cat almost crossed the rainbow bridge, and when I was extremely depressed about my cousin’s passing (fortunately for me, I had some pre-filmed videos already queued at that time)!
But, I took it in stride, and decided this: Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em. Cliche, but true! If I was going to end the #StressFreeSeptember feeling stress-free, it meant that I was going to ruin my perfect streak of videos every Tuesday and Thursday, and I wasn’t going to allow myself to feel guilty or stressed about it – and just to charge on to October with a fresh slate!
So what’s coming next for me?
Well, I hope to figure out a solution soon for a new phone!
But how about my October resolution?
It is time for an #OctoberAmelioration!
I have a few online courses I have bought or gained access to that I have not been utilizing, so my goal is to do at least FIVE lessons a week! “Ameliorate” is the English version of one of my favorite French verbs (the words are almost the same, but I use it more when I speak/think in French) – améliorer. So that’s my choice for October!
I am also starting the month with a cleanse – the same cleanse that helped me get these results:
It is on sale this month (yeah, I know, today’s the last day), and I am going to do it in a group next week! You can still join us! As I mentioned in this blog, my favorite thing about this cleanse is that I no longer crave unhealthy foods by the end! I am definitely ready not to want those!

AND, this past Monday, I started a challenge group for fitness and nutrition and to get my habits back in check after a month of less working out and more eating at restaurants. You can still catch up and join as long as it is before 10/3! If it is after, message me about the next one!
I also plan on doing a Primal/Paleo challenge, another 4 week challenge, and a scary Halloween challenge group – stay tuned to the blog later in the month & I’ll announce those!
