Saturday marked 12 years since I quit my stable day job.

I’d been calling it my “quittaversary,” but Tommy pointed out yesterday that that makes me sound like a quitter, and that it’s the anniversary of me committing to my own goals. I like that better!

Since August 25 2011, I’ve been on a few tv shows (Steve Harvey & Good Morning America twice each, plus others), modeled for some cool catalogues and at some sweet locations from coast to coast, been in a commercial with Cindy Crawford, got a haircut valued at $900 in Beverly Hills by a legendary hairstylist, and got to be a background actress in Hulu’s first original content.

I’ve also seen my makeup work on a couple billboards, book covers, on tv, in lots of magazines (People 4x, Woman’s Day, Prevention, and more), on the Cover of Village Voice, gotten to do makeup or grooming on some rad celebrities like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry Rice, Akon, Davante Adams, Summer Sanders, Joe Buck, Michelle Tafoya, Erin Andrews, Three 6 Mafia, De’Aaron Fox, Judd Apatow, Pete Holmes, and more…

I started my own podcast and released over 350 episodes and was interviewed as a guest on several podcasts myself.

Finally, I went beyond blogging and wrote two of my own books, ghostwrote a book for someone else, ghostwrote tons of blogs, got published in Forbes, Apple News, Huffington Post and lots of other publications (online and in print) and got some consistent clients pitching PR that are ongoing.

Sound on! Here’s some humpday humor from the most absurd dog in the Third Ward, who hangs out like this at the end of every walk because he doesn’t want to go home, even if we’ve walked three miles. This is likely because his walks are basically him going “Trick or Treating” and getting spoiled by local businesses and those choosing to dine outside. 🐶 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

The morning after I got back from Miami (which I got home at about midnight), I hung out with Charlo a bit, unpacked, and repacked to head up to Northern Wisconsin for a photoshoot. That was a trip - literally and figuratively! The contrast from Miami to Lake Superior was stark, but it was a beautiful experience, so I thought I’d share some of the lovely sights. I think the best thing about going to weddings might be listening to the vows and remembering why Tommy and I got married six years ago. Or maybe it’s the dancing. Or maybe… there’s too many great things to list, especially at a wedding like this! Had an absolutely amazing time celebrating Damaris and Cory in Miami last weekend, seeing some friendly faces from our Sacramento days and having a couple days to relax together! D&C - Congratulations! Cheers to a life of happiness! Karaoke and cinnamon rolls soon?

On Friday, we were blessed to attend the 50th wedding anniversary celebration and vow renewal of Tommy’s parents. It’s incredible to have such great examples of love and marriage, and I can’t help but think how much these two have changed the world by loving each other. Four amazing kids and eight incredible grandchildren are here because of them. I know my world sure is better as a result! They also shared so many fun facts about the world in 1973 - like the first mobile phone call, and first Miller Lites. My how much the world has changed since they got married!

That’s a wrap on Europe! Slovenia was absolutely amazing and a perfect combination of relaxation and fun, with some unbelievable sights. Already looking forward to my next glass of naturally orange wine. Can’t wait for the next adventure!

I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying! Our sweet boy is two and growing so fast. He loves basketball, mumpies/muppies (monkeys), trucks, when animals eat, swimming, to “readabook,” coloring, singing, dancing, baseball, Q, to “rideabike,” “driveaboat,” and “driveatruck.” He is hilarious and makes friends with strangers (maybe a little too easily). Watching him grow and learn every day is something I never imagined would be so amazing. I simultaneously want to freeze time yet can’t wait to see the man he becomes. Happy birthday, sweet Charlo!
