It’s that time again! Another episode of Mandie.tv!
How do you think the world would change if everyone considered others before they spoke or behaved? Something tells me that a lot of people would be more patient, friendly, kind, generous, understanding… And the list goes on!
I am trying to be more self-aware in general. Tonight I was at an event where a massage therapist spoke, and she shared this image:
to illustrate a point about how important massage was since so many people spend many hours each day slumped over a desk. I mentioned that I know that I often catch myself “wearing my shoulders for earrings” and scrunching my shoulders up. I made a mental note to try to self-check my posture from then on.
While it is valuable to check our posture and body mechanics, shouldn’t we also be self-aware of how we treat others, even in our minds?
It’s funny how often I get annoyed with someone and then realize that I have recently done whatever that person did. Then I make an excuse for it, to try to make my behavior less bad. Next, I realize that whoever I am annoyed with could have the same reason or an ever better one for his or her behavior, and it’s time to remind myself to be more patient and understanding.

Is there a way to skip that cycle? I bet I would be healthier and happier if I did! That’s why I made this video. I am going to challenge myself to thinking about my thoughts and actions a few times a day, and wondering if I should be a little more understanding or patient, if I am ever thinking negatively about someone else!
I feel like I usually do pretty well on the outside, with how I actually talk to people or treat them, but it’s what’s inside that counts, right?
