The Friday before last (September 4th), I turned 39. As I approach the milestone of 40 next year, I’m going through a lot of changes in life (in 2020, who isn’t, really?), and want to make this last year in my thirties a fabulous one. Upon some reflection, I have decided that this year, I want to focus on my creativity and boldness, so I’ve decided it’s going to be my Yolo Year of Renaissance. Care to join me?
So first… the boldness. Why YOLO?
It’ll (deservedly so) get its own post, but Tommy and I bought our first house! And while it’s still within a mile from work for Tommy at the arena in downtown Sacramento, it’s technically in Yolo county! If you’re not hip to slang and don’t listen to rap, you may not be familiar with the “YOLO” acronym that stands for “You Only Live Once,” but moving to Yolo county at the start of a year that I want to do big things seemed like perfect timing to pull it together into a Yolo Year!
As the host of the Bold Moves Podcast (which is currently on hiatus), I feel like I should be straying a bit from my comfort zone more often!
I’ve also been feeling very driven to embrace my creative side more… I’m not sure if it is because I’ve only gotten to do a handful of shoots this year as a makeup artist and model (thanks, COVID-19), if it’s a longing that’s been building up over time anyway, or a combination of the two, but I am feeling the need to express myself creatively more, which is where the “Renaissance” part comes in!
A while back, in my Facebook group, I wanted to “do” The Artist’s Way*, and never made it through it. Now is the time! I think it’ll help me on all fronts – with the boldness, AND the creative spark re-ignition I need!
I’ve truthfully been less-than-amazing and consistently keeping people in my Facebook group engaged, so this is also going to be a last attempt at seeing if I can “make that stick” so to speak, before I possibly decide that that isn’t my jam anymore!
Perhaps if this appeals to you and you join, your presence and participation will be part of the spark I need to keep that going strong – after all, I do believe we’re better together, AND this post on Instagram stopped me in my tracks the other day:
So, here’s your formal invite: I’d love to have you join me!
Cheers to a bold and creative Yolo year & renaissance!
XOXO,
Mandie
