Wow. 2024 was something else. From a “highlight

Wow. 2024 was something else. From a “highlight reel” standpoint (which is what social media pretty much is), it is hard to beat - my first billboard in a while came out, I acted in my first commercial in years, did some really fun shoots, lived in Europe for the summer, went to the All Star Game, went to the Olympics and saw Tommy come down the ramp with the athletes, got my 200hr yoga certification, went to some amazing weddings, made new friends and deepened relationships with others, saw parts of the world I didn’t expect to see, hosted an amazing book club retreat, and supported Tommy while his career blossomed incredibly.

But as far as the non-highlight reel stuff goes… Good riddance, 2024. This was easily the hardest year of my life, and I’m so happy to welcome 2025, hopefully with unapologetic ease and audacity.

I’ll never stop being grateful for all of the incredibly great parts of 2024 and wonderful people in my life through it. I’m totally aware of how blessed I am, even in tough times!

If you know this song from the movie, a quote in it is “I like the way you die, boy,” and that sums up my goodbye to 2024.

Take me back! A couple weeks ago, we did a little

Take me back! A couple weeks ago, we did a little mini retreat for our book club - rented a beautiful Airbnb in Egg Harbor and had a weekend getaway. We had previously read “The Unmaking of June Farrow” by @adrienneyoungbooks, so we discussed the book and made paper flowers out of old books - a craft loosely related to the book. We also did yoga (I led), went out to one dinner and made a lunch and dinner together, went for a hike, found the cutest coffee shop/gallery/store ever (@cupolacafe), went for a beautiful hike, spent time reading by the fire (that I am proud to say I built without burning the place down), did a blind book exchange, and enjoyed hot cocoa bombs. It was so lovely and peaceful and when things have been stressful lately, I’ve definitely wished I was back on the retreat! We need to plan another one for Spring! Have you ever gone on a retreat of any kind? What did you think of it?

If you’ve ever been woken up by someone shouting

If you’ve ever been woken up by someone shouting about Baja Blast (or singing the praises of online therapy or mushroom supplements) because your sleep meditation auto played to a commercial, this tip is for you!

A while back I discovered that you can use your iPhone timer to have whatever’s playing stop playing at the end of the timer. My mind was blown, and when I shared it, so many of you didn’t know about it either!

Since then, I’ve discovered buttons in @spotify & Apple Podcasts that allow you to automatically stop at the end of an episode (sorry Android friends, I can’t help!).

This has made my life so much easier, and helped my sleep - both for naps and at night. Do you use anything to help you fall or stay asleep? I love these audios, along with a few different favorite magnesium supplements/sleep powders! 😴

As an educator (formerly middle & high school, now yoga!), I love infusing learning into fun & vice versa, so l was super pumped when Target started carrying the @kiwico_inc line! I got my Big Bad Wolf the Froggie Dissection kit, and he loves it! For some reason, he named the frog “Business,” which cracks me up. I think it’s fantastic that he can already start learning a little biology, and that there are more layers to add as his understanding deepens. I’ll probably learn a few things myself along the way (especially since I wrote an essay to get out of dissection in high school because I was a vegetarian then. I bet those frogs weren’t as cute as Business)! Did you dissect a frog? Do you remember what you learned? #KiwiCoAtTarget #KiwiCoPartner

Well, we’ve been back just over a month, and sin

Well, we’ve been back just over a month, and since it seems to nice out to post Fall pics, let’s take a look back at the last part of our trip this Summer before we came back to the States! We super briefly (like 1.5 sleeps) went to Istanbul! After getting to the hotel, eating and sleeping, we had a great breakfast and relaxing morning poolside (typical of us), followed by a nap (also typical), and then went for a sunset tour! We usually don’t do tour-type things, but this boat was a great way to see the European side and Asian side of Bosporus in Istanbul - plus all the really rad historic architecture that goes along with it. After the cruise, we did what we love best - tried some incredible & delicious local cuisine (including Charlo’s trick ice cream experience). Then super early the next morning, we all headed back to the airport - Charlo and I to O’Hare & Tommy back to Athens for a couple more days. Feels good to be home, but I do miss the food! I think we got a great variety of exploration & relaxation into the tail end of our trip! 🇹🇷 Have you ever done a super short trip? How did you spend your time?

Since getting married, whenever I am blessed to attend someone else’s wedding, I often reflect on how wonderful it is to have their new marriage be reminder of the vows I took, and all the great things about being married to Tommy.

At the last wedding we attended (for a longtime friend Katie and her now husband Ian), it was a little bit different. I think the main difference was that this wedding was one that Charlo was invited to as well. Even though he attended, danced, and even gave a speech at his Lola and Grandpa‘s vow renewal celebration last summer, watching him mature and develop and interact and celebrate a little over a year later is really touching and profound.

I can’t help but think about how blessed I am to have these two incredible gentlemen in my life (three if you count Q)!

The lyrics to the song I chose refers to it being worth the wait to belong to them and be together, and since I both got married and had Charlo older than most people have their first wedding and child, I can definitely relate and say it was worth the wait!

Big congratulations to Katie & Ian and their merged families.

Since it’s my mom’s (Charlo’s Nana’s) birt

Since it’s my mom’s (Charlo’s Nana’s) birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NANA!), it seemed like a great day to share some of Nana’s adventures in Athens from back in June, along with tips to make them toddler tolerable (as much as possible).

1. Honestly, my first “Parthenon with a toddler” tip would be to skip it if possible. But of course, if Greece is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you and your toddler is with you, that may not be an option. So scroll to the bottom for more on that!

2. If you are able to save it for another toddler free time, some really fun places we took Charlo were:

The Athens zoo - it wasn’t pesto or Mang, but there were lots of babies, including a baby hippo, baby capybara, and baby lemurs - one of whom got really friendly with Charlo!

Right after the dolphin shot, there are some photos and videos from the National Garden, which has a variety of animals, lots of shade, and even a very nice playground inside. My tip would be to bring lots of water to drink, because it is hard to find somewhere that sells it!

3. However, if you want to take your toddler to the Parthenon, my first tip would be to go as early in the morning as possible. You can buy your tickets online in advance, and if your toddler is predictable enough, you can make that happen and be the first group in when they open. Charlo was still adjusting to the time change, so we were not able to buy our tickets the day before, so here is something we learned in a sort of “trial and error” sort of way: even when tickets are sold out for general admission, there are docents walking around who will sell you a ticket that includes their tour at an additional rate. For us, it was hot enough outside that it was worth it to pay extra just to get in, even if we did not stick with the tour guide (which we didn’t).

It just seems right that the way I celebrated comp

It just seems right that the way I celebrated completing my 200hr yoga teacher training from @myvinyasapractice with @annazorzou at her “Slow Flow Gentle Sunset Yoga” evening under the moon at @ninbau_hotels on a Greek-made @niyamasyogamat on one of my last nights in Athens.

One of my yoga mentors here in Wisconsin helped me find Anna & we became fast friends - mostly online! I got to enjoy a Freddo Cappuccino with her as well as an Olympic qualifying basketball game, and both were incredible experiences, and I knew it’d be a crime if I didn’t get to finally take one of her classes before I left.

It ended up being the day after I completed my 200hr certification (which was a longstanding goal of mine), and right before we did our brief Istanbul trip on our way home.

I can’t wait to practice with Anna again next summer (or maybe sooner on one of her amazing retreats), and also can’t wait to see where my next step on this yoga journey takes me. 💜🧘🏼‍♀️

P.S. just a few more posts of Athens/Istanbul adventures, then I promise I will move on! 😂
