Happy Sunday! I am super behind on updating my makeup artistry portfolio (despite not having worked as a makeup artist since March because of COVID-19), but I am still wearing makeup (rarely, but only slightly less often) and definitely admiring it and thinking bout it! That’s why when I had the option to try some new stuff in exchange for a review, I still was interested! I posted a pic after I tried it on insta, and a handful said they were interested in hearing my thoughts on it, so here’s my Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadow Review!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am a member of Influenster, which is a site that gives items to people who are interested in reviewing them. You can see more of my posts about products from Influenster here, or click here to join in on the fun!
As you can see from this post, I tried a look and shared it on my instagram, and asked my insta-fam if I should do a review… It wasn’t a requirement from Influenster this time, but since so many people said they were interested, I decided to do it anyway!
I was really excited to try these. As far as conventional makeup lines (as opposed to natural/organic), I really enjoy Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer, so I wanted to see how the colors went.
I also LOVED the color selection they sent!
In fact, I am still really intrigued by that copper color, as that color makes my blue eyes stand out (something you’d learn in my makeup book or makeup course! 😘).
When I first tried it, I used the plum (dark purple) color as an eyeliner.
I was disappointed to find that the color didn’t last, but at the same time, I had not been wearing eyeshadow primer.
So I tried again, with my favorite primer, which with a powder shadow lasts FOREVER.
Unfortunately, it STILL didn’t last!
Additionally, the color payoff wasn’t what I was expecting… All three colors were pretty sheer. I am not sure if it is just that I am used to shadows that are catered to makeup artists that are more heavily pigmented, or if it was their marketing, but I didn’t feel like it was as bright as I wanted.
BUT, I wanted to take a good pic “for the ‘gram,” as the kids are saying, so I thought I’d see what I could make happen.
I first put on my eyeshadow primer (and had put on eye cream in the morning), then put on a few layers of the shadowstick, with translucent powder in between. After about 3-5 layers alternating between the shadow stick and setting it with the translucent powder, it finally was this bright, and lasted all night!
That’s me wearing all three shades together! I’m also wearing my mascara from My Little Mascara Club, and my mask was made by my friend, and you can find them here! She donates one mask for every one purchased, so you can feel good while you look good… and you know that I’m all about that (my facebook page is called “Look Better, Feel Better, Be Better with Mandie Brice“).
I also recently received another box from Influenster, so stay tuned for that review!
Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to try or anything specific you’d like me to write about!
xoxo,
Mandie
