Dying for a doughnut? Would you kill for a klondike bar? I’ve been there, I promise. Back when I used to make videos twice a week, I made one about how to handle food cravings, and I thought it was past time to share it here in case it can be helpful to anyone!
While some experts might say you should eat something else, my advice is a little different!
If you’re not a fan of videos, I’ll explain it to you here!
I think you should give in to your cravings – that’s how to handle food cravings!
That probably seems like terrible advice, and if you’ve already stopped reading, it is!
When I made my video, I was talking about craving nachos specifically. If that’s you too, here we go… Eat the nachos. However, the important part is serving size – savor a few nachos instead of eating a heaping plate!
Have what you want, but have a small serving, and truly savor what you eat!
If this is going to be a challenge for you, then I recommend limiting your access. Either buy/make a small serving, find friends craving similar things and share a little bit of it, or have an accountability partner who’s good at tough love and can make sure that you don’t eat a lot!
When you savor things, you also have time to have gratitude for what you’re eating, and you know how I feel about gratitude (or if you don’t… I love it)!
If you don’t think you can control yourself and don’t have an accountability buddy, maybe try making something that’s a healthy version of what you want and see if that satisfies you! Another bit of advice I’ve heard is to do something else to distract you from what you want – which has worked for me, too – even if I was just waiting until I could get the best version of what it was I was craving!
And if this is REALLY an issue, especially repeatedly, maybe check out this podcast!
Is there anything you’d add? Comment below!
xoxo,
Mandie
